About the Role

Join our high performing Jay Jays buying team as a Product Manager in our Denim department. This key position is responsible for understanding the Brand target market, designing and developing commercial product consistent with seasonal trends and direction to achieve revenue and gross profit targets.

Reporting to the General Manager – Product this full-time role based at our Support Office on St Kilda Road, Melbourne will see you responsible for the overall performance of the buyership across Australia and New Zealand. 

Responsibilities

• Understanding the brand's target market and designing, developing and/or selecting commercial product consistent with seasonal themes and direction
• Managing the garment development process including the appropriate selection of fabric, trims, blocks and colour ensuring the timely product category execution instore
• Analysing the financial performance of the business and identifying key opportunities for growth in sales, margin and increased stock turn
• Managing and leading a team and monitoring KPI's & targets
• Build relationships with key supply partners to ensure that all possible commercial opportunities are maximised
• Strong experience in cost negotiation of rebates, exclusive product & price points
• Using data to identify emerging trends, you will review and evolve the department buying strategy accordingly
• Conduct weekly competitor reviews and track promotional activity for each major competitor and determine opportunities to grow market share
• Engage with the broader Jay Jays team (VM, Marketing, On, line etc.) to ensure the branded range is effectively communicated through all channels & markets
• Be able to develop strong working relationships with store teams

Skills & Experience

• A minimum of 2-3 years range buying experience with a demonstrated success in a similar role
• Exceptional negotiation & communication skills
• Highly developed strategic planning capabilities & a solid critical path manager
• Proven leadership and team management skills
• Previous experience in dealing with a broad range of suppliers
• Proactive and self-motivated and ability to work in a fast paced team environment 
• Technical knowledge of denim advantageous
