About the Role
We are currently seeking a Quality Assurance Technician to join our Portmans team. Reporting to the Quality Manager, this integral role works closely with the Buying and QA team to ensure that each garment is created to the design specifications and quality standards.
Responsibilities
Fit and measure original samples and recommend changes based on fabric suitability
Ensure all products meet testing and compliance standards
Create Tech packs for new product designs in line with Product Manager’s requirements, including clear workmanship, measurements and testing requirements
Chair fit sessions ensuring Product Manager’s comments and QA comments are collated for the supplier, whilst maintaining fit and workmanship consistency
Process Fit comments and manage workload to meet critical path KPI’s
Develop tools and communication to enhance suppliers’ capabilities and fast track approval processes
Manage Blocks and Fit consistency whilst driving continuous product improvement
Sound fabric knowledge with ability to read and approve Lab test reports
Assign labelling care and content ensuring to conform with legal and mandatory standards
Provide quality advice to Product Managers on expected outcome in bulk production and suitability of fabric through working closely with suppliers
Skills & Experience
Experience as a Garment Tech 3-4 years within the fashion industry. Tailoring experience is preferable.
Strong understanding of apparel safety requirements and guidelines
Knowledge and understanding of fabric testing
Tertiary qualifications in Design & Production are advantageous
Sound knowledge of pattern making and the quality assurance processes
Confident using Excel to create tech packs and complete fit comments
High level of accuracy and attention to detail
Strong communication and interpersonal skills
Effective time management and prioritisation skills
